Tokyo Express in Edmonton

It is 8:50pm, the sign says open until 9:00pm and is still lit saying "open" yet I was asked to leave because "we are closed."

Food quality was OK, I found the menu is hard to understand.

A good place to get a yummy, cheap meal. The selection is decent.

i come here for lunch once a week as my workplace is nearby. the staff are very nice, and service is good. I order the same thing every time (beef bento) and it is always fresh and delicious. they are very accommodating and give me an extra veggie tempura because i dont like shrimp which is nice.

Food was good but young lady has zero people skills. I say "thankyou" she said "yep".I say "how are you" she said "what do you want"

Food was fresh but it took 3 people before anyone could understand what I wanted.

Service was a little slow but it was ok. Prices don't match the online menu prices though. Online California roll was $6.59, in store was $7.99.

Got the green onion cake and shrimp noodle bowl. Food was good, service was average but quick when I was on shift.

Not clean at all. Poor customer service and worse tasting food. Much better off buying a prepared sushi platter from a grocery store.

I would give this place a zero star if I could, terrible attitude from my order taker, and the dining area is an absolute dump. I couldn't find a single table, out of 30 that has been wiped off. I won't be back and you shouldn't come here either if you're reading this. Meadowlark isn't very far and they are wonderful at that location. Employees and management need to get their act right. 👎

The sushi was good, but the variety was not as wide as I am used to - although that could be a difference between the States and Canada because the other place that I went had even less selection.

Food is good but for a place called Express very slow. Almost 20 mins for a sushi take out order when only one order was ahead of me

Tried salmon at this location, it was really good. I recommend this place for good quality food, customer service was good too.

When a place closes at 10 and you show up at 9 and are told you can’t order half the menu because they “close soon and have a lot to do” it does not make for a great experience... why are you open if not to serve customers...

Good price with good service and food

Food is usually good, although sometimes its really overcooked or chicken has a lot of grissel plus things usually take quite a bit

I wish i read the reviews before i went here. Zero stars. Dont come to this place. The male cashier didnt know their own menu. He messed up my order and did not apologize. I ordered chicken karaage he repeated my order and then proceeded to punch in chicken rice bowl. When i told him i ordered chicken karaage he said no, you ordered chicken rice bowl. He is imbecile.

Absolutely terrible customer service and it took longer than necessary to get our food. Our tempura sat and waited for so long for our poorly rolled sushi that it was cold by the time it got to our table. First (and definitely the last time) we have ever been here, and it was the worst.

I can't Express how great it was....

I came here for dinner with one of my friends this evening. And I’m very sad to say I’m thoroughly unimpressed. We walked in and it was dead , so I don’t understand why / how they had a dirty table in the back corner , there were dirty trays on the counter and when we walked in they were just sitting around talking. The sushi I ordered was really not that good, and they didn’t even let me know when it was ready. They just put it on the counter and left it there. They were also very rude to my friend when she asked for extra sauce for her combo she got. It’s really a shame because I love Tokyo Express , but I will not be returning to this one.

Never seen anywhere like this in my 39 years of life. I order spicy tuna cone and didnt even touched it. My dog wouldnt eat it. Dirty uniform, no hat. Store itself is clean, other than that .... very disappoinement.

Not well kept. Looking very old.Cashier/Cook didn't speak very good English but enough to Get by.Ordered the assorted tempura and it was excellent!Wouldn't go back for the ambiance but definitely WOULD for the FOOD.

Staff friendly and outgoing. Food was tasty and quickly made.

Eat with a few friends today at 170 location, the Bento box and salmon are yummy and service is great, will return:-P

Quick service and decent food! Sort of like Edo! Chicken teriyaki is a good choice! Salmon rice bowl is a close second!

Great place to eat sushi if you don't like waiting. The workers couldn't understand English too much, took them 5 minutes to understand that I want some spicy mayo.

My food took over 20 mins to make although I was the only customer there and I ordered one thing. When I got my food the salmon was really old and the food was prepared in the worst way. The noodles were cold and there was no veggies in the bowl. When I asked the cashier to add veggies in my bowl he started speaking Chinese to the person in the back and ignored me for a good few minutes before taking my bowl and adding one or two pieces of veggies. Overall terrible service, horrible food and I guarantee it's all because I didn't give him a tip FOR SIMPLY STANDING AT THE TILL AND TAKING MY ORDER.

Customer service was lame and food was unusually slow. Tempura sauce was weird and micro amount of broccoli in the chicken/beef plates. Oh and no ice!Pick a different location...

Consistent in service and quality, better than grocery store stuff, but don't expect restaurant service, mood and atmosphere. Great for take out if you call ahead, expect at least 20 min wait for a tray.

EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF!!!I do not recommend eating here. 😡I asked if they could make me a veggie roll, the guy NO! All I wanted was carrots, cucumbers and avocado.He said, sorry, order something else.

Literally most of my chicken karagge was vegetables deep fried. 12 pcs and only 1 pc chicken. False advertising. Won’t eat at this chain again. Double checked with their staff and they said this is how it comes (even though the photo or description doesn’t describe it that way)

I generally like Japanese food, and when I get the urge, I usually have a teriyaki chicken bowl. I always double up on the meat, and it's never too much meat. They offer sushi, sashimi, pot stickers, tempura and lots of other Japanese fare, but I never seem to want to stay from my chicken bowl. Affordable and always tasty.

The staff at this location, in particular the woman taking our order, were very rude and indifferent to us. We approached the counter and she didn't say a word. I said hello, still nothing. We ordered and she completed the transaction without speaking, smiling, nothing. No "thank-you". She could not care less. We questioned the "difficult to opt out of " tip option and she just stared at us. When I asked for wasabi she chose to finish whatever task she was doing in the back first and served it up in miserable silence. Unbelievable! They have no business dealing with the public. To make it worse we got way less tempura and spring rolls then other visits. We will NEVER go there again and either will anyone I know. Get a new job lady! You don't deserve that one star.

Haven't been at this location for awhile, the food I got today was nasty, you can taste the sushi was-from overnight (very fishy) overall experience? never coming back and won't order take out for the lunch guys at work.

Literally made no difference calling in an order for take out. I called said 15 minutes showed up 15 minutes later not even started. They still made it like i just ordered it.

Kids love this place.

Just went today with my S/O, weren’t super friendly and when we got home our chicken was cold. It’s never like this in any other locations even if we come close to when it’s time for close. Definitely not coming back.
